Senior Global Operations Officer, Equity Settlements

Responsibilities:

Equity Settlements provides the clearing and settlement support for all equity and equity-based securities transacted by the various trading desks of SCB Wholesale Bank's Financial Markets Equity Derivatives, Convertible Bonds and Cash Equities businesses, including cash equity agency brokerage business transacted through the SCB securities companies, Standard Chartered Securities (Hong Kong) Limited and Standard Chartered Securities (Singapore) Pte Limited (trading and clearing members of HKEx and SGX respectively). Products supported include shares, convertible bonds, listed warrants, equity-linked notes, SCB-issued participation warrants/certificates, and SBL (securities borrowing and lending).
The team forms part of the Equity Securities Operations department of the Financial Market Operations business unit, and is located in Singapore.
The core purpose of this role is to:
• Provide seamless clearing and settlement transaction processing for the supported businesses and entities across the range of equity securities products, particularly shares and convertible bonds.
• Continual identification and participation in the implementation of process improvement and change as required to progress the function in alignment with control standards, market standards and business ambitions.
• Ensure operational activity complies with all relevant regulations and control standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Provide seamless clearing and settlement transaction processing for the supported businesses and entities across the range of equity securities products, particularly shares and convertible bonds.
• Continual identification and participation in the implementation of process improvement and change as required to progress the function in alignment with control standards, market standards and business ambitions.
• Ensure operational activity complies with all relevant regulations and control standards.
• Ensure all trades are settled in accordance with market settlement cycles through efficient and effective liaison with front office, middle office, custodians, counterparties and clients.
• Prevent failure of trade settlement through effective and prompt communication and problem resolution.
• Ensure business queries are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
• Ensure required contract notes and confirmations are dispatched as per market, regulatory and customer requirements.
• Ensure all processing and tasks performed are done with the control framework and in accordance with DOIs.
• Provision of information to resolve reconciliation breaks (i.e. nostro, suspense, depository).
• Foster an environment of dynamic, effective and open communication between the team and stakeholders and external relations (internal and external).
• Ensure compliance with all relevant SCB group policies.
• Participate in project/system UAT as required.
• Identification and participation in the driving of continual process improvements addressing deficiencies within the function.
• Participation in management meetings and other forums where required, as a subject matter expert.
Qualifications & Skills
• Candidate must possess a Degree or Diploma or Professional qualification in any field.
• Candidates with Engineering, Accounting, Mathematics and business related qualifications would be preferred.
• 3 years work experience in the Banking/Finance industry is a plus.
• Experience in Equities is not essential but would be an added value.
• Possesses strong English communication and written skills with good inter-personal relationship skills.
• Extremely high attention to detail and a desire to learn and grow within the role.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Able to work autonomously, but also be a good team player.
• High analytical and problem solving abilities.
